Middle School Art: Watercolor Landscapes

After learning 12 watercolor techniques, students chose a photo of a landscape to depict using watercolors. Students focused on creating a powerful composition, mixing realistic looking colors and creating appropriate textures with various brushstrokes.

Each quarter New Hope art students work on an independent project, exploring a theme or medium that is new or interesting to them.  Check out the middle schoolers' 3rd quarter projects!

Joshua Follansbee created a depiction of a Hobbit home inspired by the illustrations in a book.  He used watercolors and then added moss and felt for more textural interest.
