Students in the Nature's Sketchbook Workshop have been learning how to see the world through the eyes of an artist. They spent time carefully studying and observing flowers and went on to create a watercolor botanical illustration. We also looked at the large close up flowers of Georgia O'Keeffe for color and composition inspiration.

Student studied the drawings of Vincent Van Gogh, noticing the way he used textures and patterns in his landscape sketches. Students created these abstracted landscapes in response, using various densities of pattern and line.

After exploring the art of many impressionist landscape painters, such as Monet and Cezanne, and learning various acrylic techniques (under-painting, blocking in, blending, textures, working "lean to fat"), they painted these beautiful acrylic landscapes on canvas.
