New Hope Courses for Homeschoolers is here to partner with homeschooling families by providing high-quality, supplemental courses. We at New Hope understand that 8th gradecan be an important year for homeschoolers. Parents of 8th graders often have a lot on their mind!

-Perhaps your 8th grader needs to bolster his or her skills in a subject to be ready for high school classes the next year. 

-Perhaps your student is ready to start some high school classes their 8thgrade year, and you want them to start well. 

-Perhaps there are classes like foreign language or math that are no longer working well online.

Servathon Kickoff Lunch

It's Servathon time! We kicked off with lunches on Monday and Thursday this week. We are getting into high gear, setting up our FirstGiving pages and personalizing letters we are sending to friends, families, and local businesses.

Macbeth Comes to New Hope

The New Rep players came to New Hope today and put on two Shakespeare workshops (one for middle school, one for high school). All English tutorials have been reading Macbeth in anticipation of the day, and it was a rousing success!

We recorded two Mannequin Challenge videos, featuring music recorded by two of our students! Then today at lunch, two groups of students put on skits about following up with donors. We emphasized how important personal follow-up is, and the groups showed us a "successful" follow-up, meaning the donor said "Yes!", and one that didn't result in a donation.

Today, the Main Hall was decked out with extra tables, lots of pens, pencils, and extra letters as students began or continued personalizing their Servathon letters.

In Classical Lit today, we looked at Book 18 in The Iliad, specifically the shield of Achilles. A centerpiece of the story, the extended description of the piece of armor (called an ekphrasis) may seem at first glance out of place.
