Spanish IV

Tutor: Anna Duncan (Danvers)
Target Students: High school students
Instruction Time: Two 90-minute tutorials per week

Spanish IV is offered to those students who have successfully completed Spanish III. Conducted exclusively in the target language, this class will help students grow in confidence as they continue to develop fluency.

The more learners use the target language in meaningful situations, the more rapidly they achieve competence. Active use of language is central to the learning process; therefore, learners must be involved in generating utterances for themselves. They learn by doing, by trying out language, and by modifying it to serve communicative needs. (MA Curriculum Frameworks, from the Dept. of Education)

In this tutorial, students will be encouraged to perfect their oral and written language, gaining knowledge in the future, conditional, subjunctive, and perfect tenses, which will open the way for them to express themselves with more accuracy and freedom.

Through TPRS, current events, literature, science, and any other subjects students choose to learn about in Spanish, students will be able to attain a higher level of fluency in meaningful language and subject matter.

In an environment where it is normal and acceptable to make frequent mistakes, students will feel relaxed and free to concentrate on speaking as accurately as possible, without being afraid to make mistakes along the way!
