Student Life

Life at New Hope is directed by our commitments to Christ and each other, as reflected in our core values:
Encountering the Risen Lord in learning and community
Supporting and strengthening home school families
Building a safe, strong community
An ongoing dialogue with the great minds of history and each other
A life of personal and academic honesty
SALT (Student Advisory and Leadership Team)
SALT is a group of students called together each year by the Headmaster and Tutor Advisory Board to discuss various issues of concern to the New Hope student community. They meed as needed, but no less than quarterly, first by themselves and then with staff advisors (sometimes with the Headmaster). Their purpose is:
- to model and encourage student ownership and involvement in their own education
- to be aware of the tone of community at New Hope
- to advise the Headmaster and tutors on student life issues at New Hope when called upon during meetings, and also on an ad hoc basis as needed (such conversations are held in confidence)
- to be a "sounding board" for the Headmaster and tutors as new policies are considered
The purpose of SALT is not to be a "student police force" or "tell on" fellow students, nor is SALT a source of labor that the staff and tutors can call on at any time.
PEPPER (People for the Energetic Planning and Preparation to Encourage Relationships)
PEPPER is a student-run group created to build community and relationships throughout the New Hope school year. The group plans activities both inside and outside of New Hope, e.g. ski trips, the talent show, costume/ pajama day, and various other trips.
PEPPER is not a fundraising group. Any money collected prior to planned events covers costs and nothing more.
PEPPER is not an advertising group. We only publicize PEPPER-planned events and activities.
