Landscapes Aplenty!

Landscapes Aplenty!

Students in High School Art studied the art of notable landscape artists such as Friedrich, Cole, Monet and Sisley before embarking on their own acrylic landscape paintings.  Students chose a reference photograph to inspire their piece and then sketched an interesting and well-balanced composition onto color-washed canvases.  Next they blocked in large shapes and went to work adding layers and detail.

These works in progress are coming along beautifully.  For many of these students, these are their first paintings on canvas. It is exciting to see each artist's style emerge as they work through these pieces and the many visual challenges they present.  Next, we will use the same reference photographs to create an abstracted version of each landscape. Make sure to check out the final products in a few weeks when they are posted on the New Hope Art Gallery
